Corinne Scripps will be speaking on Establishing Good Practices for Using AI to Create Lay Summaries of Trial Results.
Lay Summaries (LS) are essential for making clinical research results more transparent and accessible to non-scientists, addressing the traditional barrier of complex scientific language. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides us with the opportunity to streamline this process, it is important to understand the public perception of using AI when creating these documents for public and patient awareness.
CISCRP has surveyed over 1,000 patients and members of the public from the United States and Europe to better understand their familiarity, trust and comfortability toward AI in this space. Additionally, CISCRP has partnered with a multi-stakeholder group to create a good practice guideline document on the use of AI in creating lay communications. Using this feedback, we will evaluate how to incorporate these insights and good practices into lay patient summaries.
